Our Golf Story

Missed Dreams Opened an Opportunity for us in Golf: Two Brothers, One Corner of the Golf Game.

We started Core Golf Corner because we wished something like this existed when we were grinding. There’s no shortage of golf content online, but so much of it feels out of reach. What we needed was a place that spoke to our kind of golfer, hungry to improve, willing to work, but looking for real-world guidance. That’s what we set out to build. A resource rooted in experience, fueled by passion, and committed to helping others love the process of getting better.

What makes Core Golf Corner truly different? It’s not just our story, it’s how we use it to help you. We’ve walked the hard path of improvement, without elite coaches, private memberships, or big-time programs. This gave us something powerful: the ability to challenge the status quo. We don’t just repeat the same swing clichés you hear everywhere else. We bring fresh, uncommon golf insights like mental game shifts, strategy over swing, and practical tools for improving even when you’re off the course. From curated book lists to transformative podcasts and learning resources, we equip golfers with ways to grow, whether we’re coaching them or not. Our content is rooted in personal experience, backed by real progress, and shared with the intention of helping others break through. That’s the Core Golf Corner difference: golf advice for the rest of us, built by people who’ve been there.

Our Story

We both picked up golf when we were young, but our journey began on worn-down municipal courses, studying swings from YouTube, copying our favorite pros, and competing with each other endlessly. Golf wasn’t just a hobby, it became our identity. We fell in love with the challenge, the hours upon hours spent at the golf course, and the tiny breakthroughs that felt enormous when things clicked. But even with our obsession, we always had to figure it out on our own. Lackluster Coaches came and went. Feedback was conflicting and sometimes it messed with our golf game. Resources were limited and finances were tight. But we kept showing up. We mainly built our swings from scratch, filming each other and working on things together. It led to early success, with both of us placing and even winning local junior golf tournaments. This encouraged us to dream big and go far, to play college for sure, and maybe even the pga Tour: delete this next sentence.

Brenden made the state tournament in his junior and senior years. He tore his ACL during his senior season, yet battled through PT and recovery to finish inside the top 12 solo performers in Utah’s 6A division. One of Brenden’s greatest battles has always been managing Type 1 Diabetes on and of the course. Balancing blood sugar, fighting off fatigue, and navigating unpredictable changes in energy taught him discipline, tenacity and to never give up. He’s known for hitting the ball extremely fast, regularly generating 180+ mph ball speed, and still plays competitively today—most recently winning a Pro-Am in the summer of 2024. He still competes in tournaments during the summer, but now devotes more of his golf energy to teaching others about the game, and building a business that will help golfers across the globe.

Cameron, on the other hand, never made it past regionals, but his commitment to the game ran just as deep. He volunteered at a local golf course to cover his playing expenses and eventually worked there once he turned sixteen. After struggling under the guidance of a few coaches whose methods didn’t work for him, he eventually connected with a different PGA professional who helped turn things around, but it was too late into his senior year to make a difference for college and pro aspirations. Cameron has since completed the qualifying level of the PGA program, worked at Topgolf, under the tutelage of a PGA Pro named Kevin. He coached the kids summer league, helping little ones from the ages of 4-12. He gained valuable experience coaching, and it inspired him to complete the qualifying level of the PGA program. He has always been known as the “short game king” among his family and friends. He has a natural ability to break down the swing and help others improve. He also has a fascination with the mental game and strategy, listening to hours of podcasts a week to learn from the world’s brightest on the subject. He’s also reads many books about Sports Psychology, his favorite being Craig Manning’s “The Fearless Mind”

We grew such a love for the game of golf that it has turned from a high school passion into a lifestyle we never truly gave up on. Although we have come as close as possible and shot under par on 9 plenty of times, we’ve never shot under par on 18 holes. We only had about a dozen golf lessons while in high school and very few since then. Somewhere along the way, we were forced to separate results from value. Just because we didn’t have a long list of accolades didn’t mean we couldn’t offer our experience and knowledge. We both chose to put everything on hold to serve two-year missions for our church. That experience taught us how to work, how to serve, how to sacrifice—and in a unique way, it made us better golfers. More grounded. More focused. And definitely more grateful for the game.

In the fall of 2023, we had a conversation following a golf lesson that Brenden had. It was Cameron’s idea and nothing more than a great idea at the time, but it ignited a spark in each of us. Cameron missed being involved in the golf world regularly. Brenden was working towards playing in college. Cameron pitched the idea about building a golf site and helping people get better, simplifying the mental game, and sharing gear that actually works. I remember really loving the idea and it resonated with me. Since then, we really haven’t looked back.
